Once you are out of your home, you can connect Roku to Xfinity WiFi public hotspots that are available across the nation. But many users complain that they can’t access the local hotspot on their streaming stick device. That’s why I decided to talk about connecting a Roku stick to a public Xfinity WiFi hotspot.
You may probably want to connect your Roku to Xfinitywifi public hotspot since you are an Xfinity mobile or internet customer. And for this, you don’t need to spend an extra amount. It’s a free service since you are paying the bill for mobile or broadband service.
If you are already their subscriber, you’re lucky. Seamlessly you can connect any type of device to their millions of local WiFi networks. This is highly beneficial for those who love to travel and don’t need to carry a portable modem.
Connecting Roku to Xfinity WiFi public hotspot
Your Roku stick will be automatically connected to an Xfinity WiFi local hotspot because your device was previously connected to their provided SSID and password at your home router. If you fail to connect even then, follow the instructions below.
First of all, connect the Roku streaming stick to your TV
Make sure that your preferred connection is wireless
Turn on the device, and using the remote control navigate to the settings tab. Then choose Networks. In the sub menu, select setup connection and choose Wireless.
Your Roku will scan for the networks around it and will be listed all the available networks.
From there, you should select the SSID name xfinitywifi. Your Roku will automatically get connected to this network.
If not, an input box will show to enter the password. Use the Xfinity WiFi password that you are using at your home.
You’ll be then connected. You can check the signal strength by selecting the About tab of the connected xfinitywifi network.

Advantages of using XfinityWiFi
In order to enjoy the Roku content without any buffering issues, we need a high-speed connection. Many of the channels on it provide high-quality HD streaming. You’ll get extensive WiFi signal strength on this Xfinity public open WiFi hotspot.
The parent company Comcast makes your WiFi experience very fast and safe even when you are connected to such an open network. So, you don’t worry about the security of your connected device.
You don’t need any additional setup to be done to connect to the local hotspot even if you are not even connected before. Once your Roku is already connected to your home router, it’s enough to automatically connect to their open WiFi.
Why isn’t Xfinity WiFi shown up on my Roku?
A possible reason may be due to you have set up the connection method as wired under the network settings. You should change it to wireless to automatically scan for the network around and list the available network names (SSIDs).
Is local hotspot free and available to everyone?
Xfinity WiFi is free for Xfinity mobile or broadband subscribers only. If you are already a member, you’ll have a unique SSID and password provided by them.
