For a better streaming experience, your Roku device should be connected to a strong internet. It’s better to switch to a good internet service if you are experiencing poor service from the current ISP. In order to connect your Roku streaming TV to a new internet provider, you should disconnect your Roku TV from the WiFi network of the previously connected service.

The simplest method to remove the Roku TV from the WiFi is to reset the network connection under the Roku TV settings tab.

The procedure is the same if you are using a Roku TV stick, box, or smart TV.

So, let’s get started.

How to disconnect Roku TV from WiFi?

  • Turn on your Roku TV and then select the Settings option from the Home screen
  • Navigate to the option System and click on it
  • Select the Advanced system settings option
  • Then select the Network connection reset option
  • Locate the Reset connection option and click on it

Wait for a few seconds until the system resets your connected WiFi network.

Resetting your network connection will reset both your WiFi (wireless) and the wired network SSID settings. After the disconnection completes, your TV will restart.

Now you can register your Roku TV on another strong and stable WiFi network and enjoy media streaming without any buffering issues.

How to disconnect WiFi on Roku TV without a remote control?

If you lost your original Roku TV remote control, don’t worry. We can make use of Roku mobile app to navigate through the network reset option to disconnect from the connected wireless network.

But there is a problem when you disconnect your device from WiFi when you don’t have an original remote control. It’ll become difficult to make a connection with your new WiFi.

Still, if you want the method, then follow the instructions.

I know your TV or device is already connected to a WiFi network. Connect your smartphone to the same WiFi.

Then download and install Roku mobile app and log in with your username and password.

At bottom of the app, you can see a tab named devices where it’ll show all the connected Roku devices.

Select the connected device from there and then select the Remote option.

Now you can simply control the connected TV’s settings using the Roku mobile app.

Follow the settings options that I mentioned in the first section to disconnect the Roku TV from WiFi without a physical remote control.

Settings >> Advanced system settings>> Network connection reset >> Reset >> OK

How do reconnect Roku TV to a WiFi network?

Once you disconnect the Roku TV from a wireless network, all the saved SSID and passwords will be erased. To connect a WiFi to the device even if it is the same or another network, you should know the SSID and password.

Go to the settings tab, select choose the network tab, then select wireless. Give the SSID and password to get connected.

Though Roku itself has the devices like streaming sticks and boxes, we can stream content through the Roku app installed on smart TV and smartphones. But what about playing the content on windows computers?

Can we get an (.Exe) file to install the Roku app for Windows?

We will check whether it is possible to install the software or application on Windows-based PCs like operating systems 10, 11, 7, 8, etc.

Yes! There is a Roku app for Windows 10 only on the Microsoft app store. But the app is not available to download and install on other versions of OS computers such as Windows 7, 8, or XP. You can directly download and install the application for 10 or 11 by searching on the app store.

If you want to get the app on Windows 7, 8, or even Mac OS, you need to install the mobile version of the app with the help of Android emulators like Bluestacks on the Nox app player. I’ll show you the step-by-step, keep reading.

How to get the Roku app for Windows 10?

You can directly download and install the app from the store app. If you are installed Windows 10 operating system on your computer, then open up the store app. Then search for the Roku app, and then hit the install button.

The PC OS will do the rest of the things.

The .exe file cannot download from the official website.

If you can’t find the app on the store, follow this link:- https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/roku/9WZDNCRDLM3T?hl=en-us&gl=us

The app is not available in some countries. But it’s now available in the USA, UK, Canada, Mexico, and some Latin American countries.

The system requirements

You need Windows 10 version 10049.0 or higher version under x64 or x86 architect.

Does the Roku app compatible with Windows 11?

Yes, the application is compatible with the latest operating system. In the store app, under the system requirements, they clearly stated that the application does work version 10, 10049.0, or higher.

If you are using any PC such as a desktop, or laptop, enjoy streaming your favorite media player. You can watch as like the smart TV.

How to install Roku for Windows 7, or 8?

If you are using an OS other than 10 and 11 such as Windows 7 or 8, there is no official application available on the app store.

But still, you can install Roku for Windows 7 or 8. We’ll install the mobile version of the application such as the Roku Android app using the free Android emulator software applications like Bluestacks or Nox app player.

Personally, I use Bluestacks and will show you how to install Roku for Windows 7, 8, or even XP.

Follow the instructions

Step #1: Download and install the Bluestacks Android emulator on your PC

Bluestacks is one of the most popular and widely used Android emulator software applications where you can install any Android APK files. Thie app is very simple, versatile, free, and easy to use. Download the software from their official website.

Here is the link: https://bluestacks.com

Fortunately, the Nox-app player and Bluestack are compatible with Windows 7, 8, etc.

Step #2: Log in to the play store on the Bluestacks

Once installed, open the Bluestacks by double-clicking on the icon shown on the desktop. The app will open. There is a Google Play store app icon on the Bluestack homepage. Open the Playstore by clicking on it. Then you’ll get a page to log in to your account.

Provide your Gmail address and password and sign in.

Now the Google play store opened, then search for the Roku app on the search box. The store will search for the app and will list it. Click on the Install button to install the Roku Android app on your PC.

Note:- Suppose, if you have the APK file located on your computer, move it to the desktop. Then drag the file to the APK tab seen on the right side of the Bluestacks.

Step #4: Log in with your Roku Username and password

Open the Bluestacks, then within the app, you’ll see the Roku icon. Double-click on it to launch the app. Log in with your user ID and password to get your account and start streaming the content on your PC.

You can enlarge the screen size that fits your Windows PC. You can watch the content on the whole computer screen without losing the picture quality.

How to get Roku on MAC OS?

Android emulator app can be available for your MAC OS PCs too. Download and install the software first. Then install the Roku app from the Google play store app through the Android emulator. Then sign in with the Roku username and password to enjoy Roku streaming on MAC OS.

Follow the same exact procedures as above.

Features

  • You can stream your favorite movies, shows, and episodes on your large computer screen.
  • Easy to launch by double-clicking the shortcut icon [Quick launcher]
  • No need to sign in each time you open the Roku application on your computer
  • There will be no quality loss such as picture quality or sound quality

Wrapping it up

It’s not possible for every Windows PC OS user to get stream the Roku channels. The possible methods are described below. Still, a lot of Windows 7, and 8, users are around the world, but unfortunately, Microsoft doesn’t release the app for them.

But technology has evolved a lot. We have alternative methods to do what we wanted.

Hope you really liked this post. Please do share. Sharing is caring.

Frndly TV is the most popular affordable streaming service in the market that provides the best TV channels, Live& On-demand, and classic content. Recently many users have reported video buffering issues while playing their favorite content.

In this post, we are going to look at the common causes and the troubleshooting tips to solve the problem. If you are experiencing the same kind of errors, definitely this post will helpful for you.

Why Is My Frndly TV Keeps Buffering?

The buffering issue on Frndly TV is due to the slow network speed or the multiple numbers of network users. You should also check whether the data pack has expired or not. You can’t access the content when the FrndlyTV pack has expired. So, check all other factors

How to Fix Frndly TV buffering issue?

Frndly TV provides 40+ channels under various categories for a very affordable price. In order to enjoy all of them without any buffering or cutting-out issue, try the following troubleshooting tips.

Check your Internet speed

For smooth and buffer-free streaming on Frndly TV, you should provide 1.5 Mbps downloading speed for SD content and 5 Mbps downloading speed for SD content streaming.

So, check the internet speed and it provides sufficient speed.

You can check the speed online. For this, go to the following link

Test your internet speed online

Check Internet speed online, and click on the Run Speed Test button.

If it shows the download speed minimum of 5 Mbps, there is no issue with the WiFi. If the speed is very low, contact the broadband providers.

Limit the number of users in the network

When more users are sharing the network, it may cause a problem. It’s ok when another person on the same network is just browsing the internet. But when multiple users are browsing videos, that may consume large data, so it’ll cause Frndly TV buffering.

Keep your WiFi router as close as possible to the device

Whatever the way you watch Frndly TV like watching through a smart TV, Roku device, Firestick, etc. Keep your WiFi modem as close as possible to the device. If the router is too far, it may cause a weak WiFi signal and cause buffering.

If possible, you could use an ethernet connection to your device rather than using WiFi for a more strong network.

Check whether the data plan has expired

Network providers may lower the speed to 2G or 3G when your current plan has expired. So check for that.

If any greater plan with speed improved, subscribe to it. Also, you have to check for the devices. If you are using a very old modem, and if there is any improved router available, upgrade to it.

Are you attempting to record on cloud DVR – Turn it off

Frndly TV premium subscription allows you to have unlimited cloud DVR recording. If your internet speed is very low and still you are trying to record the content, just postpone the recording.

If you are recording HD content for cloud storage and watching the content at the same time on a low-speed WiFi connection, the buffering issue will happen.

Clear device cache

Clearing the device cache and the app cache can help you to get rid of the Frndly TV buffering problem since it provides more internal storage for smooth functioning.

The cache on the device is cleared by options available on the menu items. Each device has a different method to clear the cache.

For clearing the cache on Frndly TV, you should log in to the app using your user ID and password. Then navigate to the settings tab. Find the clear cache tab and then clear it.

Close any background running apps that consumes more data

If you are watching Frndly TV on their official website platform, then the buffering issue may cause when any other apps run in the background. Suppose the apps or software running in the back consumes more data, the video streaming issue will happen.

This has happened many times to me. I used to play youtube videos and muted them, and at the same time, I opened a web application of Frndly TV to stream the Peacock channel. Since Youtube is streaming on another tab, I can’t watch the streaming better.

After closing the tab opened Youtube, After that the Frndly started streaming without any buffering issue.

Final Words

It’s time to conclude this post. I think I have covered all the tips that can help you to fix the Frndly TV video buffering error.

I assume you are not using any proxy server or VPN to stream the content. If so, you could connect to them for fixing the issue. So many VPN providers are not giving quality service. But my recommendation is to use a high-quality data provider to minimize this type of issue and stream better.

Do you own a Hisense Roku TV that’s acting up? Before calling for service or troubleshooting complex issues, a factory reset is something you’ll want to try first. Resetting your Hisense Roku TV restores it to original factory settings, often fixing problems with freezing, lagging, apps not working properly and more.

A factory reset is also recommended if you’re giving away or selling your Hisense Roku TV. It’ll wipe all personal data off the device and unpair it from any linked accounts, making it fresh for the next owner.

Below you’ll find a detailed, step-by-step walkthrough on how to successfully reset your Hisense television with Roku built-in. Along with the reset instructions, we also provide extra tips to ensure the process goes smoothly.

What You Should Know Before Resetting Your Hisense Roku TV

Before starting the reset process, there are a few important things to keep in mind:

– All installed channels/apps, account information and settings will be erased. Be sure to delete or unlink any payment details tied to streaming services or other apps beforehand.

– You’ll have to re-activate your Roku account and re-link it with services like Netflix, Hulu, etc after the reset. Make sure you have your Roku account password handy.

– Any saved information like WiFi passwords or input names will be cleared out as well during a reset. Write down anything you may need afterwards.

– A factory reset can resolve software glitches, app issues and freezing. If the problems continue, there may be a hardware fault instead.

Get Everything You Need Before You Reset

In addition to the password for your Roku account, here’s what you’ll want to have on hand:

– Hisense Roku TV remote and fresh batteries if needed. You’ll use this for navigating menus.

– Internet connection details for WiFi setup post-reset. Know your network name and wireless password.

– Phone or tablet with Roku mobile app. This makes typing info easier during setup prompts.

– List of channel/app logins you’ll need. Accounts for streaming platforms, cable provider, etc.

Step-by-Step Instructions to Reset Your Hisense Roku TV

Once you’ve prepped the items above, follow these exact steps:

1. From your TV’s home screen, press the Home button on the remote. Scroll right from the left-most menu and select “Settings”, then press OK.

2. Now go to “System” > “Advanced system settings” > “Factory reset”. Press OK after each selection.

3. You’ll get a factory reset confirmation screen explaining everything that will be deleted. Highlight “Factory reset everything” and press OK.

4. One last warning will appear. Choose “Reset” if you want to proceed.

5. Wait several minutes for the reset process to complete. The TV will restart itself when finished.

Set Up Your Hisense Roku TV Again Post-Reset

After your Hisense Roku television boots back up, you’ll need to repeat the initial product setup:

1. Select your language for menus and prompts. hit OK to advance.

2. Connect to the internet over WiFi. Have your network name and wireless password handy to link up.

3. Activate your Roku account or create a new one from scratch. Sign-in or make a account.

4. Input info like location and time zone. Also select privacy options or enable location services if wanted.

5. Re-link your Roku account with channel/app accounts from Netflix, Prime Video, etc. Sign back in on each one.

6. Set up desired settings like screen type, power mode, volume modes and captioning preferences.

Once the setup assistant finishes, your Hisense Roku TV will have a fresh, clean software install. Reinstall any extra apps you wish to use going forward.

Extra Tips for Avoiding Issues

To have the smoothest experience factory resetting your Hisense Roku television, keep these pointers in mind:

– Do not shut off the TV or unplug it during the resetting process. Wait for it to fully wipe and reboot.

– If for some reason it won’t reset successfully, unplug the power cable and press the power button for 10 seconds to discharge any leftover energy.

– Avoid resetting right after a major firmware update. Give the update some time to finalize first before wiping.

– Never factory reset to fix physical damage problems. It only resolves software-based issues.

– If apps continue struggling after the reset, check for Roku or app-specific updates next.

– For additional troubleshooting help, visit Hisense and Roku’s customer support websites.

Factory Reset First for Hisense Roku TV Problems

In summary, performing a factory reset should always be the first step when battling bugs, glitched apps or interface problems on a Hisense Roku TV. It’ll wipe the slate clean, allowing you to set up a trouble-free viewing experience again. Just be absolutely sure to backup anything important before resetting your device.

Follow the step-by-step reset guide outlined above. Have your Roku account info, internet details and other necessities on hand ahead of time as well. And if issues persist afterwards, further software fixes or hardware repairs may be required. But in most cases, a simple factory reset will get your Hisense television working like new again.

Watching your favorite shows and movies on Hulu through your Roku device is easy and convenient. However, there may come a time when you need to log out of your Hulu account on your Roku. Logging out ensures that no one else can access your personal Hulu profile without your permission. Fortunately, logging out of Hulu on Roku only takes a few simple steps.

## Why You Might Want To Log Out Of Hulu On Roku

There are a few key reasons why logging out of your Hulu account on Roku is a good idea:

* **Protect privacy**: Logging out prevents others who have access to your Roku from viewing your Hulu watch history, personalized recommendations, and viewing what shows you have saved in My Stuff. This keeps your Hulu activity private.

* **Avoid surprise charges**: By logging out, you ensure that no one can subscribe to additional Hulu plans or make in-app purchases that would be charged to your payment method on file. This avoids unwanted charges on your account.

* **Manage multiple Hulu profiles**: Families often share a single Roku but have different Hulu profiles for each member. Logging in and out allows the right profile to be accessed by the appropriate family member.

* **Use on a shared or public Roku**: When using Hulu on a Roku in a shared space like a living room or vacation rental, logging out removes access to your personal account once you are done watching.

No matter the reason, logging out of Hulu on your Roku provides an additional layer of privacy, security, and control over who can view or access your personal account.

## How To Log Out in Just a Few Steps

Logging out of Hulu on your Roku device only takes a moment. Just follow these simple steps:

### Access Roku Account Settings

1. From the Roku home screen, scroll up or down to highlight the Settings option.

2. Select Settings and scroll down to Account.

3. Choose Account to open your account details.

### Navigate to Channel Log Ins

1. From the Account screen, select Channel Log Ins.

2. This will display a list of channels like Hulu that you are currently logged into through your Roku account.

### Log Out of Hulu

1. Highlight the Hulu logo and press the asterisk * button on your Roku remote.

2. A prompt will appear asking “Are you sure you want to log out of Hulu on this Roku device?” Select Yes to confirm.

3. Hulu will now show a lock icon indicating you have successfully logged out of your Hulu account on this Roku device.

And that’s it! In just a few simple steps you can log out of your personal Hulu profile on Roku. To log back in, simply open the Hulu channel and re-enter your account credentials when prompted.

## Important Notes About Logging Out of Hulu on Roku

Here are some additional details to keep in mind when you log out of Hulu on your Roku:

* **Saved shows remain**: Any shows or movies you have saved to My Stuff on Hulu will still be there for your user profile after logging out and back in.

* **Reactivate premium add-ons**: If you have premium Hulu add-ons like HBO Max or Cinemax, you will need to reactivate these subscriptions after logging back into Hulu on your Roku.

* **Parental controls revert**: Any customized parental controls like maturity rating settings or profile PINs will have to be reset up after logging back in.

* **Multiple Roku devices**: Logging out on one Roku does not log you out of Hulu on any other Roku devices your account is still actively signed into. You have to log out separately on each device.

So while logging out is simple, be aware it clears all active Hulu session data until you sign in again. As long as you log back in with the same Hulu credentials, your account details, watch history, and personal customizations will be restored.

## Get The Most Out Of Hulu on Roku

Logging in and out of your Hulu account on a shared Roku device when needed helps ensure your personal account stays private and secure. But be sure to take advantage of everything Hulu offers when you are logged in:

* Stream top shows the day after air
* Access thousands of movies and full TV series
* Add premium channels like HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax
* Create and manage multiple user profiles for the whole family
* Customize parental controls for each profile
* Download shows to watch offline
* Get recommendations tailored to your viewing history

Managing your Hulu profile on Roku only takes a few clicks when needed. So log out with confidence and log back in to enjoy all your favorite entertainment!

Roku is a popular streaming device that plugs into TV HDMI ports. With an easy-to-use interface and remote, Roku devices provide access to thousands of streaming apps and channels. This article compares Rokus to smart TVs and when upgrading with a streaming box makes sense.

What is Roku?
Key features of Roku devices:

• Small streaming box connecting via TV’s HDMI port
• Intuitive interface to access apps/channels from home screen
• Robust universal search across multiple apps
• Over 10,000 available streaming channels
• Affordable prices starting at $30

Roku delivers an ad-free, unbiased streaming experience suits all content preferences. Frequent software updates ensure users enjoy the latest innovations.

Smart TV Capabilities
Modern smart TVs connect directly to the internet to offer built-in streaming, including:

• Popular apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc.
• Voice assistant integration (Alexa, Google Assistant)
• Hands-free app launching, content search, and smart home controls

When it comes to streaming apps specifically, smart TVs share many Roku device abilities. But Rokus maintain advantages in certain areas.

Reasons to Get Roku Despite Owning a Smart TV
While convenient, smart TVs have limitations compared to dedicated Roku streaming:

More Apps and Channels
Smart TVs support fewer apps than Roku’s 10,000+ options. Niche channel access eliminates app jumping.

Faster Updates
Smart TV software updates roll out slowly. Roku devices rapidly deploy the latest features.

Superior Search
Smart TV search only functions within each app. Roku scans all channels to find your desired content.

Ad-Free Interface
Some smart TV home screens now display ads. Roku OS remains freely customizable.

Advanced Voice
Unique Roku voice remote commands like “show me comedies with Paul Rudd” simplify content discovery.

Single Remote
Roku remote handles power, volume, TV, and streaming. Fewer remotes reduce headaches.

Stronger WiFi Connection
Roku’s antennas enable more reliable wireless streaming quality.

Long-Term Support
With over a decade actively maintaining older models, Rokus receive extended usability.

Enhanced Privacy
Roku collects some usage data but is transparent, allowing opt-outs and restricting sales.

When Roku May Not Make Sense

Roku devices aren’t always essential, such as:

• Brand new smart TVs with full app/feature sets
• Users content with basic streaming offerings
• Existing Roku TV models (software integrated into the TV)
• Xbox/PlayStation consoles enabling entertainment apps
• Budget constraints making $100+ purchases unreasonable

Foregoing Roku does limit future expandability. But smart TV capabilities continue advancing quickly enough for many consumers.

Conclusion
Roku streaming players upgrade entertainment versatility for only $30 upfront. Users gain channel variety, voice features, wireless performance, and usability compared to smart TVs. Carefully evaluate personal viewing preferences and habits to determine if supplemental Roku adoption makes sense.

Once you are out of your home, you can connect Roku to Xfinity WiFi public hotspots that are available across the nation. But many users complain that they can’t access the local hotspot on their streaming stick device. That’s why I decided to talk about connecting a Roku stick to a public Xfinity WiFi hotspot.

You may probably want to connect your Roku to Xfinitywifi public hotspot since you are an Xfinity mobile or internet customer. And for this, you don’t need to spend an extra amount. It’s a free service since you are paying the bill for mobile or broadband service.

If you are already their subscriber, you’re lucky. Seamlessly you can connect any type of device to their millions of local WiFi networks. This is highly beneficial for those who love to travel and don’t need to carry a portable modem.

Connecting Roku to Xfinity WiFi public hotspot

Your Roku stick will be automatically connected to an Xfinity WiFi local hotspot because your device was previously connected to their provided SSID and password at your home router. If you fail to connect even then, follow the instructions below.

First of all, connect the Roku streaming stick to your TV

Make sure that your preferred connection is wireless

Turn on the device, and using the remote control navigate to the settings tab. Then choose Networks. In the sub menu, select setup connection and choose Wireless.

Your Roku will scan for the networks around it and will be listed all the available networks.

From there, you should select the SSID name xfinitywifi. Your Roku will automatically get connected to this network.

If not, an input box will show to enter the password. Use the Xfinity WiFi password that you are using at your home.

You’ll be then connected. You can check the signal strength by selecting the About tab of the connected xfinitywifi network.

How to connect Roku smart TVs to Xfinity WiFi?

Are you attempting to connect your Roku-built-in smart TVs like TCL, Hisense, Onn, etc to an Xfinity WiFi local hotspot? your Roku smart TV will show you a 6-digit activation passcode to authorize the device.

You need to authorize your connected smart TV or Apple TV using this code.

So, How do you do? Just simple.

Open any web browser on your smartphone or computer. Then go to the URL http://xfinity.com/authorize

If you are trying to connect to a hotel WiFi, you can use this method (When they offer public WiFi hotspots) or try using the Roku WiFi-Direct method that I published before.

Advantages of using XfinityWiFi

In order to enjoy the Roku content without any buffering issues, we need a high-speed connection. Many of the channels on it provide high-quality HD streaming. You’ll get extensive WiFi signal strength on this Xfinity public open WiFi hotspot.

The parent company Comcast makes your WiFi experience very fast and safe even when you are connected to such an open network. So, you don’t worry about the security of your connected device.

You don’t need any additional setup to be done to connect to the local hotspot even if you are not even connected before. Once your Roku is already connected to your home router, it’s enough to automatically connect to their open WiFi.

Why isn’t Xfinity WiFi shown up on my Roku?

A possible reason may be due to you have set up the connection method as wired under the network settings. You should change it to wireless to automatically scan for the network around and list the available network names (SSIDs).

Is local hotspot free and available to everyone?

Xfinity WiFi is free for Xfinity mobile or broadband subscribers only. If you are already a member, you’ll have a unique SSID and password provided by them. You can use this password to connect any devices like smartphones, tablets, and streaming devices including Firestick, laptops, etc to their open WiFi hotspots.

It’s worth it if you be their subscriber because you can stay connected to the internet through their 80 lakh+ hotspot points that are distributed all over the country. Obviously, one WiFi hotspot should be around you when you go anywhere in the USA.

TCL Roku TVs allow you to easily access entertainment from various sources in one place. The Roku platform integrates streaming services, games, cable TV, and other devices. Switching between these input sources on your TCL Roku TV can be done simply through the input menu. This article outlines how to access and change inputs, customize names and order, and use the Roku mobile app to switch sources conveniently.

Accessing the Input Menu

The input menu displays all devices connected to your TCL Roku TV as icons, such as:

• HDMI ports
• Antenna
• Streaming/casting

Access this menu using either:

Remote Control: Press the “Input” or “Source” button to view inputs.

Settings Menu:

1. Press “Home”
2. Select “Settings”
3. Choose “TV inputs”

Ensure input names match connected devices (e.g. rename “HDMI 1” to “DVD Player”). This enables easy identification when switching sources.

Selecting an Input Source

To display a particular device, within the input menu, use the remote control arrows and “OK” button to:

1. Highlight the desired input
2. Press “OK” to confirm

For example, to view a game console, you would select the HDMI input it is physically connected to. The TV will display that device.

Customizing Inputs

To minimize confusion when changing sources:

• Rename inputs to match connected devices
• Remove unused HDMI ports

Follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings > TV inputs
2. Highlight an input and press “*”
3. Choose to rename or remove

Saved changes will update the input menu.

2. Open the Roku app and select your TV
3. Go to “Remote” then press “Menu”
4. Select “Device playback controls”
5. Choose input source from “Change input”

This provides flexibility to switch sources anywhere in your home without hunting for remote controls.

Custom Input Order

To minimize button presses for commonly-used sources:

1. Go to Settings > TV inputs > Change input order
2. Highlight an input and press “*”
3. Specify its new location

For instance, place cable TV first if accessed daily. Prioritizing inputs tailors the experience to your needs.

Conclusion

TCL Roku TVs simplify managing multiple entertainment sources with an accessible input menu. Custom naming inputs, removing unused ports, reordering priority, and leveraging the Roku mobile app further enhances source switching convenience. With just a remote or phone, enjoying varied devices connected to your TCL Roku TV is seamless.

As streaming media players have grown more popular in recent years, Roku has emerged as one of the leading brands – known best for ease of use, breadth of app offerings, and affordability. Core to the seamless Roku experience is getting your device connected to the internet via WiFi. For most users, linking to the home WiFi network is quick and simple. But occasionally wireless issues arise that require direct device-to-device pairing instead. If you need to activate the Roku WiFi Direct feature for troubleshooting or other specialty uses, some extra steps and the WiFi Direct password credential are necessary. Read on for a full walk-through guide explaining this alternative connectivity method and password requirements.

Understanding Roku WiFi Direct Capabilities

The WiFi Direct protocol built into Roku players and streaming sticks enables a direct peer-to-peer type wireless connection between the Roku and another compatible device like a laptop, tablet or smartphone without having to go through a standard WiFi router. Speeds are comparable to regular WiFi for streaming capability. This opens up Roku WiFi Direct as an option anytime the home WiFi is down and immediate access is still needed for system updates or remote viewing. It also allows handy functions like screen mirroring a mobile device display straight to the Roku.

Key Things Needed to Connect Roku via WiFi Direct

To activate WiFi Direct mode on your Roku and link it to another device for wireless connectivity minus a router, here is what you need:

• Compatible Roku streaming player or streaming stick with WiFi Direct support in its settings menu (most newer models have this)
• Secondary device (laptop, tablet or mobile phone) with WiFi Direct protocol also enabled
• Physical proximity – Place the Roku and secondary device next to each other within 30 feet during setup
• Roku WiFi Direct password which must be entered on the secondary device to access the Roku connection

How to Activate Roku WiFi Direct

Ready to get Roku WiFi Direct up and running? Follow these steps:

1. Grab your TV remote and select “Settings” from the Roku main menu to open the options slate.

2. Next choose “System” then scroll down on the left sidebar and select “Advanced System Settings”.

3. Within the Advanced settings area, choose “WiFi Direct” then highlight the toggle button icon to switch WiFi Direct from “Off” to “On” status so it activates this direct wireless mode.

4. Your Roku will immediately start broadcasting its own WiFi Direct signal outward. Make note of the unique WiFi Direct name shown on screen that identifies your Roku – it will usually start with “Roku_” followed by a series of digits. This is important for finding the correct signal on your secondary device next.

Joining the Roku WiFi Direct Connection

Now it’s time to access the Roku’s WiFi Direct from another WiFi Direct-enabled device like a smartphone, tablet or laptop computer:

1. Pull up the list of available WiFi networks on your secondary device. Under the list of standard wireless connections that normally show, you should also now see the Roku WiFi Direct name as its own selectable option.

2. Tap to connect directly to the Roku signal.

3. You will immediately be prompted to “Enter Password”. This brings us to…

What’s the WiFi Direct Password Credentials?

Once your secondary device finds and selects the Roku WiFi Direct signal, the last vital step is entering the correct WiFi Direct password when asked in order to finalize the wirelesshandshake between the two gadgets.

Here is the universal password to access ANY Roku player via WiFi Direct:

1234567890

So on your connecting laptop, tablet, etc., simply type in the numbers 1234567890 into the password field and you will instantly link up with the Roku for direct wireless access!

Using WiFi Direct Connection to Troubleshoot or Mirror Screens

With the private Roku-to-device WiFi Direct pathway now active, two of the most popular ways to harness this direct streaming are:

1. Running System Updates Offline – If your Roku is unable to update its firmware due to lack of home internet access for some reason, WiFi Direct grants a workaround. Use the connected smartphone or computer to visit the Roku site so the latest software package downloads through that alternate internet pipeline to the Roku instead.

2. Screen Mirroring Capability – When mirroring is enabled under Roku settings, the WiFi Direct connection lets you duplicate your smartphone or tablet screen directly onto the TV display. This offers easy viewing of apps, videos, photos and websites from those mobile devices conveniently on the big screen.

The simplicity of Roku WiFi Direct setup via the universal 10-digit password makes it handy for times when wireless troubleshooting or screensharing are needed. And now that you know how easy it is to enable this alternative connectivity mode, you’ll have it in your back pocket whenever the situation calls for it!

Keeping your Roku device’s cache cleared is an important way to maintain fast performance. The cache contains temporary internet files, cookies, browsing history, and other data stored on your Roku to allow for quicker access. Over time as the cache fills up, it can slow things down. Clearing it out gets rid of this outdated and unnecessary data. Follow this simple step-by-step guide to learn how to clear the cache on your Roku.

Why You Should Clear the Cache

Here are some key reasons for regularly clearing the cache on your Roku:

– Frees up storage space: Cache files take up valuable storage that you could use for more apps, channels or personal media files instead. Deleting the cache gives back this storage capacity.

– Fixes performance issues: An overly full cache can cause lags, longer load times, stuttering playback and other disruptions. Wiping it can restore normal speed and responsiveness.

– Resolves error messages: Certain error messages pertaining to connectivity, loading issues or problematic channels may be cured by a quick cache clearing.

– Improves security and privacy: Browsing data, passwords and other sensitive information can be stored in temporary cache files. Erasing these helps protect your privacy.

When to Clear the Cache

Some good times to clear out the cache include:

– You notice performance lag or unusual error messages
– Before troubleshooting other issues
– After major software/app updates
– Every few months as routine device maintenance

How Often Should You Do It?

For optimal performance, you should aim to clear the Roku cache about once every 3 months as general maintenance. If you actively use a lot of channels and streaming services, doing it more often than that is advised. The process only takes a few minutes, so frequently clearing out old temporary internet files is easy to do.

Instructions to Clear Cache on Roku

Clearing the cache on your Roku device is simple no matter which model you own. Just follow these instructions:

1. From your Home screen, go to “Settings”

2. Select “System”

3. Choose “Advanced system settings”

4. Scroll down and select “Clear cache”

5. Confirm by choosing “Confirm”

That’s all there is to it! The cache will now be wiped from your Roku device. The only thing left to do is restart your Roku by going to “System” then “Restart.” After it reboots, your cache will be empty and your Roku will be ready for optimal streaming performance.

Still Having Issues? Other Fixes to Try

If clearing the cache didn’t resolve your technical issues, here are a few other troubleshooting tips:

– Make sure all software, channels and the Roku OS are updated to the latest versions
– Delete and reinstall any problem channel or app
– Check internet connectivity and reset modem/router if needed
– Factory reset the Roku device to erase all data and settings

Remember that clearing the cache is only one basic maintenance task. But it can be an effective solution or helpful first step for many common problems faced by Roku owners. Maintaining a clutter-free cache is key for the best experience across various models like Roku Premier, Express, Streaming Stick+ and Ultra.

Follow our simple guide anytime sluggish performance occurs or you want to free up space. With just a quick minute or two, you can wipe that old temporary data for a refreshed and optimized Roku.
